love comes again

hey there sp0rtsfans. defcon ctf quals starts next week friday. one of the most amazing part of ctf since i've been playing it has been quals. a weekend of caffeine, sleeplessness, technology, binary leetness and sheer determination. i only hope my kids 'get it' soon so i can share the time with them a little, rather than have it make my family feel abandoned.

last year we took the year off. seemed a good plan. everyone was burned out, we had major scheduling conflicts, including my own attendance at a good friend's wedding. it was good for all of us.

in case there was any question, lastplace will return to the game this year. be warned, the team has gone through several very huge changes with the loss of a few key members (heck, when there's only 8+-1 of you, everyone is key). this year is a rebuilding year in which we may give credence to the team name. whatever. this was never about winning, it's always been about playing, growing, and having a metric shitton of fun. once rollin i realized how big a deal the comraderie was. we look to have a good team this year, it's just gonna be different, as i say farewell to very dear friends drb, psifertex, and shiruken. drb has been burned out since the first year, and i've been playing on his ctf-addiction ever since. psifertex has had a very difficult choice to make since he works with all the team-awesome guys and staying with us was causing significant difficulties, and shiruken was also burned out.

we've added a few really awesome guys, so we're sure to have loads of fun. we'll see how things turn out, we hope to see y'all at defcon.

so shuffle the shellcode, gentlemen. love comes again.
